What do you do when you've been told news that impacts your life in a way you weren't quite prepared for? I mean huge earth shattering news like your partner has cheated on you, your kid is dropping out of school, your manager wants you gone, or your body is aging in new and alarming ways. And now you question everything - who you are, what you believe, and the purpose you have in this world. That's okay. In this week's Sun-day design I want you to look for the deliverance after diagnosis. Once you're aware of this news, a decision can be made more clearly by you or others. You can finally take the first step in moving on, and that means moving up. The greatest gift is knowing - getting clear on where you stand creates your path to personal salvation. Here's an example. I have a new leadership in my other job that has made it clear in so many spoken and unspoken words - what they value and devalue in my work. This is a gift as I can mindfully choose the ways in which I continue to evlove my career. Understanding my career diagnosis gives me freedom from wasted hours pining over incomplete information or false assumptions. I know my allies and can re-evaluate my approach to my short and long-term career goals. Validating my path feels good and powerful. There is grace and perspective to be gained which are the seeds to deliverance, and peace. This framework is also true when you receive a medical prognosis you aren't quite prepared for. I call that experience PDSD for "Post Diagnosis Stress Disorder". It's similar to the sort of grief-to action- orientation you go through when you grieve significant loss in your life. Take a look at my post on SpaFinder Wellness website for guidance on working your way through news of a medical dilemma too. Comments are closed.
