Heal Your Body with Music

Music soothes the soul and can shift your mood in an instant. Whatever your musical tastes I'm sure you have a playlist for fitness or for fun. When you're happy, sad, or just cleaning the house. I bet you have a collection of oldies but goodies perfect for when you want to reminisce about a time when...In this week's Sun-day design I want you to heal your body with music. Give yourself some much needed TLC. Select a song that fills you and listen with intention. Really listen to the lyrics, the melodies, and the message you take away. Feel the vibrations of pain, joy, hope in the artist's voice, the instrument's strings or keys. See all the ways the music massages your heart. Harness the power in the music you love to nourish your body this week.
  • Select one song that you moves you deeply, when you hear it world stands still.
  • Now pick a time of day to play it, first thing in the morning, mid-day break or before bed.
  • When you play that song sit or lay still, and turn off all other media. No TV, no talking, no moving.
Notice the details in the lyrics and sounds you hadn't recognized before. Listen to the song with all of your senses. As you feel the music you'll start to notice the area of your body that have been tense for so long. The more you recognize the tense areas of your body the more skilled you become at releasing that energy - with or without the music.  Repeat this activity every day this week and by day three you will be energized by the magic in the melodies. Persevering Life's Storms

As I experience storms in my own life and support my clients through theirs I am more than ever encouraged to remind you that storms can serve as a place of power and not dread.
 
The storms you face present you with an opportunity to learn and grow, to stretch and go beyond what you thought was possible.In this week's Sun-day design I want you to dig deep and persevere.  That means making a different choice, letting go of someone or something that is no longer aligned with your greater good.

Like surfing a surfing wave there is so much POWER to gain from examining the full spectrum of the experience. Even if you're going through personal health issues, grieving the loss of a loved one, caring for elder parents, or rebounding from recent job woes, trust that no matter how defeated you may feel you always have the power within to shift things, creating the momentum you need for a bigger turnaround.

What if you look at the eye of the storm and use that fury of energy as a source of your motivation and drive. Decide how you will show up. Create your own clarity to understand why you're facing the storm you're in right now. Is it a reflection of the areas of life that still need work, were unattended, or deferred to some other convenient date. Use the exercise below to discover some ideas to help you reframe the storm you're persevering through right now. Fill in the blanks and see find your gems  of inner strength:
  • This storm is the perfect lesson for me because I get to _______.
  • During this storm I commit to making sure people experience (insert emotion) _________ from me.
  • My inner power for that emotion is sourced through prayer, meditation, silence, or __________.
  • I will ask (insert person’s name) _________ to remind me of my commitment to persevere.
  • When I feel like complaining I will play my perseverance theme song which is _______________.


When we are connect to the lesson and all the ways we can shift your experience right now in the present moment you can admire and appreciate the beauty in the skyline as the storm settles down. Share your theme song, your story and tips for perseverance in the comments below. 

Growing Hurts So Good!

I committed to making 2015 my year to grow. To expand my mind, my business and my heart (Amen) And just as I glued that last image promoting growth and expansion on my vision board, viola! here comes growth in all of it's experiential glory. I was quickly reminded that the process of growth is equal parts fun,  excitement, play, and also grueling, arduous, defeating, and sometime painful! 

When my son experiences teenage growth spurts he complains that his knees hurt and reaches for some yoga balm - similar to tiger balm without the potent odor. I remind him that without some pain he wouldn't experience such profound growth. Well that's true for other ways in which we grow - mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In this week's Sun-day design remember growing hurts so good! Relish in the positive tension you feel as you learn, do and become a better version of you.

There may be an area in your life where you're practicing moving that space in your life to the next level. You're reading the books, journaling and doing the work to transform. Each day you're more aware, present and perceptive, and that progress allows you to see how much work you still need to do. So if you're working to grow your money you'll need to create and stick to that budget, bye bye sporadic spending (ooh, pain). Looking to heal important relationships in your life then you have to be willing to own your part of the breakdown and feel the labor pains of rebuilding the relationship - that by the way is a reflection of the relationship you have with you (ouch, that's a blow). Even building your business whether it's bricks and mortar, product based or online services, the learning demands are constant. 

This week turn that sore spot to a sweet spot, massaging that space of growth with love, compassion, and understanding. When you feel that tinge of anxiety, frustration or disappointment just smile because you know you're growing. Leave a comment and share your personal growth story.
